For this assignment, I have decided to interview my mother about a map that carries significance to her. My mom has integrated her own map in her head that combines both my neighborhood in Tustin, California and her hometown back in Seoul, Korea. This map contains two special places that represent her home, one here in the US and one back in our her country. Whats really cool about this map was how she visualized this map in which she physically connected the two into this one place that she holds very deeply. She point out every little detail from both places and connects them as if they were in the same space. Things such as the park next to my house, or the ramen store back in her hometown are relatively in the same area which is kinda cool to visualize. Its really interesting how she connects aspects of her past and almost as if she's reliving it within the present. Seeing this sort of puts things into perspective of how we cling on to some aspects of our past and how we visualize it during the present.
